Barn Owner
Heather
Owner of Burnt Feather Farms, Heather, has been riding horses since she was a toddler, with her love of horses sparked by her grandmother’s horses in Washington. With a lifelong passion for horsemanship, she has gained extensive experience in colt starting, tune-ups, lower-level dressage, trail obstacles, and training horses and mules to pack. However, her true expertise lies in driving—training everything from miniature ponies to massive eight-horse hitches. With decades of hands-on experience, Heather is dedicated to helping horses and riders reach their full potential.

A graduate of Houghton University, she studied under various instructors, refining her skills in both the saddle and the classroom. Her training approach is rooted in natural horsemanship, prioritizing clear communication and respect between horse and rider. With a strong emphasis on groundwork as the foundation for success, she works to develop well-balanced, responsive, and confident horses in any discipline.
